2012 Olympics continuing to eat into lottery funding
Charities and voluntary groups across England are likely to lose an extra 200 million in grants from the Big Lottery Fund as a result of players switching to special Olympics games.
Third Sector has used information provided by the Liberal Democrats to show the full cost to charities of the use of Lottery funds for the 2012 Olympics.
Big Lottery Fund was told to contribute 213 million in 2003 and 425 million in 2007 and now a projected 200 million may be lost by players switching from traditional Lottery games to Olympic 2012 games. Camelot originally assumed that 59 per cent of the revenue for 2012 would come from players switching from mainstream games, but it has now raised that estimate to 77 per cent.
